Encouraging business, community and the city of Surrey to revitalize South Newton, the King George corridor and Downtown Newton. Festival Street doesn’t have to be a dream! Let’s make it a reality. Think: gallery meets grunge, foodees meet funky, retail meets rhythm and rock. A community hub with heart, soul, and yes, a bit of grit thrown in. ReImagine the heart of Surrey as The George Arts District- Midtown. Your place, your home.
What is ReNewton?
ReNewton began in the fall of 2011 as a grassroots initiative to encourage the city of Surrey to purchase the former Surrey Public Market property located at King George Blvd. and 64th Avenue. The south Newton property and derelict building at that time had sat vacant for over 15 years. We envisioned a return to the once bustling public market, along with mixed use retail, residential and community space. Since then we have expanded our focus to urban improvement in general.
Currently ReNewton focuses on the great places we do have in our town centre! We’re here to promote business, culture and community and to encourage revitalization of the south Newton area along the King George corridor and throughout the downtown core. This place has good ‘bones’ and tremendous potential as a Commercial Drive type hub for Surrey in the geographic centre of the city. Come discover what makes Downtown Newton so special!
